    Position Overview:

    Performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures and provides assessment, treatment, care and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities. Exercises sound judgment, and developed clinical skills to provide input to and implement the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis and physician orders in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orient other staff to the department.

    Level II-III NICU experience.

    Job Description :

    RESPIRATORY SERVICES

    • Performs respiratory care procedures on a routine and emergency basis for all age groups ranging from neonate to geriatric according to policy and procedure.

    • Assesses patient prior to delivering prescribed therapy and provides recommendations to physician for appropriate adjustments in the type and frequency of treatment as needed

    • Provides input to and implements the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis and physician orders.

    • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Performs all respiratory care modalities.

    • Administers medications and treatments and evaluates patient outcomes.

    • Educates the patient and family about prevention and management of cardiopulmonary diseases; provides information about community support groups and other available programs.

    • Responds to emergency resuscitation team calls: Code Blue/Rapid Response

    • Provides routine diagnostic modalities.

    EDUCATION:

    • Other: Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)

    CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:

    • RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner

    • NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider if required at the entity

    • RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist within 90 days

    • OR CRT-Certified Respiratory Therapist within 90 days

    • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

    TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

    • 2 years of recent relevant experience.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

    • Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies.

    • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    • Capable of performing routine or emergency respiratory care as well as a basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.

    • Possess written and verbal communication skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.

    • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

    • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC.

    • Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.

    • Identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.

    • Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

    • Function effectively and perform this position in an emergency situation.

    Pay Range is $56.48 to $70.60 / hour

    The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs.
