  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides medical gas delivery to oxygen gas storage areas on general nursing floors and for specialty equipment.

    • Performs duties related to physician orders and patient charges.

    • Assists in the acquisition of equipment and supplies, inventory control, preventative maintenance and assembly and verification of equipment.

    • Participates in the orientation and in-service activities.

    • Performs duties in accordance with policies and procedures as established by the department.

    II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Essential: standing, walking, stooping/bending, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, lifting and carrying usual weight of 25 pounds; pushing/pulling usual weight of 50 pounds; repetitive arm/hand motions.

    • Frequent: frequent gripping of an object for prolonged periods of time.

    • Occasional: sitting, climbing stairs, twisting body.

    • Operates E cylinder, H cylinder, regulators, carrier carts, oxygen supplies, and computer.

    III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.

    • Subjected to noise/vibration from generator in cylinder storage room.

    • Some exposure to chemicals, communicable diseases and body fluids.

    • Exposure to fumes and dust.

    IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

    • High school diploma or equivalent education.

    • Coursework in biological science preferred.

    B. EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience to demonstrate:

    o Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

    o Ability to keep accurate records with attention to detail.

    o Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing.

    • Knowledge and/or experience in medical gas delivery systems preferred.

    • Prior experience in a position with patient contact preferred.
