    The Organization

    Operation Samahan (OpSam Health) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves the San Diego County community. Founded in 1973 in a barber shop in Downtown San Diego by Filipino health professionals offering services to immigrants who did not have the finances, linguistic skills, or ability to navigate the health care system. Today, Operation Samahan has evolved into a diverse community health center with services available in National City, Mira Mesa, City Heights, and Rancho Penasquitos. We provide primary care, dental, behavioral health, family planning, integrative health and wellness, healthy eating, civic engagement, and other health related services to the uninsured, underinsured, and underserved families of all income levels regardless of their ability to pay

    JOB PURPOSE

    Registered Dental Assistants (RDAs) assist at the chairside as professional dental team members in performing four-handed dentistry and treating patients in a manner that inspires confidence in the staff and services of the dental department.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

    • Assists in the provision of high-quality care within the scope of service consistent with accepted standards of care for dental assistants.

    • Prepares each operatory and patient for treatment.

    • Review the provider’s schedule for appropriate appointments.

    • Takes and prepares radiographs using conventional or digital technology.

    • Provides active chairside assistance to the Dentist and anticipates their needs.

    • At the conclusion of patient care, assist the patient, clear the work site, and prepare for the next patient.

    • Monitors the flow of laboratory cases.

    • Monitors and records sterilization cycles.

    • Maintains and inventory supplies.

    • Helps to manage patient flow in the clinic.

    • Follow proper infection control protocols for the practice.

    • Participates in the ongoing evaluation of Dental Program operations to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality services that support the financial sustainability of the department.

    ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS

    • Ability to set up and prepare dental equipment and instrumentation in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.

    • Ability to manage the dental office infection control plan to meet OSHA, CDC, and ADA standards.

    • Maintains and expands the current level of dental assistant skills and knowledge by periodically attending continuing education programs.

    • Will have two years of experience.

    • Have the ability to communicate effectively and have a collaborative, patient-focused attitude.

    • Greet all patients, making them feel welcome and comfortable.

    • Take initiative and ensure all daily tasks are completed.

    • Order, track, and receive all back-office supplies.

    • Discuss provider-recommended treatment and create value.

    • Sterilize instruments, restock operatories, and thoroughly clean equipment.

    EDUCATION/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

    • Certification:

      Current RDA License. Radiation Safety Certificate, CPR Certificate, and Coronal Polish Certificate.

    • High School Diploma or GED

    • CPR certification

    • Completion of radiation and safety course

    $25.00 – 30.00
