    We are looking for compassionate and caring Recreational Therapist to join our LIFE Broad Street team. LIFE Broad Street is a member of Trinity Health PACE. Our facility ministers exclusively to the elderly through a coordinated care model which provides preventive, primary, acute and long-term care services designed to assist older individuals to live as independently as possible while continuing to live within their community.

    This position will be housed at the LIFE Broad Street facility.

    What you will do:

    • Manages the daily operations of the recreational therapy department including but not limited to staffing and staff assignments, initial recreational therapy assessments and reassessments, and referrals to other providers.

    • Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary team (IDT) and in initial, semi-annual, unscheduled, annual assessments and reassessments; ensuring that all participant recreational therapy needs are identified and addressed.

    • Plan and implement group and individual treatments to improve or maintain the participants' cognitive, physical, Recreation Therapist, social, psychosocial, and artistic needs, such as, exercise, arts and crafts, birthday and holiday celebrations, special events, recreational games, cognitive groups, and community outings, including coordinating services with the center manager/director, transportation, dietary, maintenance, nursing, and rehabilitation staff, as needed.

    • Plan and prepare activities for dementia-specific population; oversee daily flow of quiet room activities area, coordinating aspects of personal care with para-professional staff assigned to work on dementia-specific programs; and provide on-going support to all staff involved in dementia-specific programming related to the dementia disease process.

    • Complete timely documentation, including daily participant activity participation records; assessments; and other data on participants as directed by the interdisciplinary team.

    • Assume the lead role in quality assessment and performance improvement related activities.

    • Lead the activities department in development of discipline-specific standards of care.

    • Provide initial and ongoing training, education, and supervision for recreation therapist and assistants, including all areas of performance with departmental policies.

    • Responsible for keeping recreational therapy staff abreast of program information and making sure staff concerns regarding program and participant issues are addressed appropriately.

    • Actively participates in the coordination of efforts towards survey preparedness. When necessary contribute to the plan of correction for department deficiencies.

    What you will need:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Therapy related field or NCCAP Activity Professionals Certification. Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated experience in activities/therapeutic recreation related services with geriatric population.

    • Minimum of one (1) year documented experience working with a frail or elderly population or if less than one (1) year of experience, must receive appropriate training from the PACE organization on working with a frail or elderly population upon hiring.

    • Must be action-oriented, have business acumen, manage conflict well, be customer focused, have high decision quality, flexibility to adapt to ongoing change and have organizational agility. Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.
