    Description:

    What you will do

    • Serve as a liaison with physicians, nursing and/or departments for communication regarding controlled substance transactions, documentation and discrepancies.

    • Maintain controlled substance records and ensure accurate billing to patients/departments.

    • Develop and implement protocols for controlled substance distribution and tracking. Deliver/restock and monitor expirations of controlled substances and non-scheduled medications in the narcotic boxes and automated dispensing cabinets located in surgical areas where general anesthesia is provided.

    • Perform physical inventory of controlled substances as assigned.

    • Research controlled substance discrepancies and report unresolved discrepancies to Pharmacist-in-Charge.

    • Label and repackage bulk medications into unit dose system and maintain necessary records pertaining to repackaging.

    • Monitor controlled substance expiration dates in the inpatient pharmacy inventory.

    • Communicate/work with the Inventory/Automation/IS coordinators to resolve inventory supply issues.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or GED.

    • Typing and computer skills.

    • Registered or eligible to register as pharmacy technician with the State Board of Pharmacy Examiners.

    • Certified Pharmacy Technician

    • 3 - 5 years of hospital pharmacy experience desirable
