    Description:

    Follows established procedures and guidelines in the transportation of patients throughout the organization. Provides a wide variety of support functions associated with safe transfer of the patients from the Emergency Department various departments. Assists in monitoring all aspects of patients' safety, comfort and well-being throughout transport to and from various departments. Notifies departments about delays and reasons for those delays in patient transport. Notifies the department about any concerns, delays, reason for delays in patient transport. Also utilized to facilitate cleaning of ED room. Follows established procedures when cleaning rooms to ensure infection control measures are met.

    What you will need:

    • High school graduate or equivalent

    • Certification or re-certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within one month of hire

    • ?Six months of patient care preferred

    • Familiarity with standard desktop and windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions

    What you will do:

    • Utilizes SBAR Patient Transport Report and talks with the RN to gain information about the patient and their current condition prior to the transport. Follows guidelines for RN transport.

    • Understands how the various equipment functions; i.e. stretchers, telebox, beds, monitors, etc

    • Understands and follows proper universal precautions during transport. Follows the rules and guidelines of isolation patients.

    • Assists with preparation of the patient for transport. Has the ability and training to locate and connect patient to telebox. Understands placement of a 12-Lead ECG for proper patient monitoring. Monitors intravenous lines during transfer.

    • Monitors safety and comfort of patient during transport. Can demonstrate proper transfer techniques to minimize injury to patient and self. Utilizes and can demonstrate competency in transfer slit and gait belt use. Observes the patient during transport and looks and asks patient if they are ok, able to check vitals if necessary.

    • Maintains proper oxygen levels of patient during transport. Knows where to retrieve O2 tanks and how to store them properly.

    • Understands the use of restraints, how to tie and untie properly for safety of patient.
