We are seeking aLab Animal Technician/Corporate Response Team (CRT) 3 for our Insourcing Solutions Department located inCambridge, MA.
Perform any combination of the following duties at IS client facilities on a temporary basis, as assigned by site supervisor or client POC and in accordance with research requirements and established site SOP's/practices. Cares for the animals used in research and development studies. Performs duties related to the maintenance of experimental animals such as feeding and caring for animals, cleaning cages, holding animals for treatment by laboratory technician or maintaining inventory and animal identification records. Performs cleaning/sanitation of animal facility and equipment. Responsible for bio-safety and bio-security of the animals. May partner with pre-clinical investigators to assist and support veterinarians with surgery, dosing, post-op care and monitoring of animal studies.
The following are responsibilities relate to theCRT 3
Perform technical functions required by research protocols and assist with dosing administrations; PO, SC, IM, IP, and IV.
Provide and assist with pre / post-op surgical monitoring.
Assists with restraint, handling, weighing and manipulation of rodents as requested by clients or assigned by the on-site Supervisor or facility veterinarian.
Perform veterinary technical support duties such as: sentinel sample collection and animal treatment under the guidance of a Veterinarian.
Provide technical skills training to the research community in support of IACUC-approved research protocols, e.g. animal handling and restraint, weaning, tail snips, ear tagging, blood and other tissues sample collection, injections, treatments, surgical preparation, pre-, peri-, and post-operative observations, euthanasia, and assists with research procedures as directed.
The following are minimum qualifications related to theCRT 3 position:
Education: Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in animal science or related field of study.
Experience: Two years of animal care and handling, and technical experience with small models in a research laboratory program.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
Certification/Licensure: AALAS certification at the Laboratory Animal Technician level (LAT) or higher.
Other:Proficiency with basic animal identification methods. Ability to effectively follow verbal and written instructions and exhibit interpersonal skills that are conducive to effective communication and that contribute to a congenial work environment. Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with coworkers, research staff, and managers. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
