    M Health Fairview is looking for an Emergency Room Tech at our University of MN Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN. The ER Tech is responsible for assisting the professional nurse in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and / or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and reordering and stocking supplies. The ER Tech works under the direction of a professional nurse.This position is for 0.75 FTE (60 hours per two weeks) on the day/eve shift with 10 hours shifts and an every other weekend rotation.

    Job Resposibilities:

    • Provides for patient safety by following appropriate safety procedures/plans and utilizing proper infection control techniques

    • Informs RN of patient observations

    • Transports patients by wheelchair and cart

    • Assists patients with ambulation and positioning.

    • Promptly responds to patient call lights/requests

    • Demonstrates concern for patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.

    • Documents patient care activities and procedures on the nursing record

    • Functions as nurse extender by assisting the nurse in patient care activities

    • Assists in resuscitation with appropriate CPR and bag/valve mask

    • Maintains room/unit, restocks room, supplies and carts and assists with patient room clean-up between patients

    • Performs quality control checks on designated pieces of equipment




    · Completion of Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) course or Emergency Dept Tech (EDT) course or EMT-I licensure (active licensure is required at the time of hire, but doesn't need to be maintained after hire)

    · UMMC West Bank - May have the requirements above or current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry (active licensure is required at the time of hire, but doesn't need to be maintained after hire)

    · BLS


    · 2 or more years Emergency Room Technician or Emergency Department Specialist experience

    Vaccination Update
