    The Center for Health Statistics is looking for a dedicated individual to conduct planning and coordination activities around youth and adult cannabis surveillance at the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). As part of this work, you will positively contribute to MDH's Disaggregated Demographic Standards, Data Catalog and Publications Library by providing a health equity lens to the department's cannabis surveillance.

    This position will provide consultation regarding how such standards could be best adopted by sections looking to expand their data collection around cannabis surveillance as well as other health conditions. In this role you will have the opportunity to collaborate with other scientists and epidemiologists throughout MDH and other agencies to develop guidelines for data analysis and reporting capability pertaining to various demographic groups within Minnesota populations. This position will assist in preparation of biennial reports on youth and adult cannabis use in Minnesota.

    This position is eligible for telework to applicants who reside in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, or South Dakota. Position locations will be determined by the top candidate and will be based out one of the following MDH district office locations: St. Paul, St. Cloud, Duluth, Rochester, Marshall, Bemidji, Fergus Falls.

    Minimum Qualifications

Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.

    Three years of experience in a public health setting conducting any of the following: needs assessments, program evaluation, research studies using primary or secondary database linkage efforts, data analysis and interpretation, management information systems or data selection, monitoring systems in health-related program.

    AND

    • Experience with disaggregated demographic data.

    • Experience analyzing health data through a health equity lens.

    Qualifications to be further assessed during the interview process:

    • Knowledge of data systems and data libraries.

    A Master's degree in epidemiology, economics, environmental health, psychology, health statistics, or health services research or closely related filed may substitute for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for twelve (12) months of experience, an associate's degree may substitute for six (6) months of experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree in epidemiology, economics, environmental health, psychology, health statistics, or health services research, or a closely related field.

    • Experience in managing web-based databases.

    • Experience in working with diverse communities.
