WIC Nutritionist December 2nd, 2011 Location: Upper Manhattan Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics/Food and Nutrition. Must meet ADA minimum requirements (RD eligible). Minimum of one year providing nutrition education in a medical or community setting. Proven nutrition counseling and teaching skills. One year previous WIC experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Must have a thorough knowledge of the High Risk Criteria, Care Plans and methods to assist high risk participants. Must attend a one-week training at the WIC Training Center in NYC within 6 months of hire. Responsibilities: In this role, you will perform a variety of professional duties for participants of the Federal Special Supplemental Food Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) including: Screening and certifying WIC applicants using verified nutritional risk criteria, medical risk criteria and anthropometric measurements in accordance with NYSDOH guidelines; provide nutrition education directed at health promotion, disease prevention and treatment; interpret and evaluate varied medical data with respect to nutritional status and make recommendations to participants about food and nutrition and make referrals to community and public health facilities as needed.
