This position is needed to perform advanced serological investigation of problems in the areas of immunohematology and provides a source of technical expertise for the healthcare community. Resolve serological problems through the use of advanced test methodology consistent with SOP and cGMP requirements. Perform all Assistant Technician, Lab Technologist I and QC responsibilities as needed. Manage the rare product inventory, including coordinating shipment throughout the United States and the identification of new donors from the CBB/LS donor base for inclusion in the Rare Donor Registry. Function as a technical resource by accurately and professionally communicating orally and in writing clinical information to the external hospital nursing staff, physicians, and transfusion service staff, and obtain necessary information
BS with MT (ASCP) or BB (ASCP) or equivalent is required. SBB (ASCP) certification preferred. 2-3 years experience in Reference Lab or equivalent environment or 5-7 years experience in transfusion service. Valid PA drivers license with flexibility to travel to all ITxM sites. The employee will be required to spend the majority of the day standing, sitting and using their hands. The employee may be required to lift up to 25 pounds. Close vision and the ability to do microscopic viewing is required. The employee must have the ability to respond to audible alarms and incoming phone calls and verbalize information and direction. Test completion requires manual dexterity.
