Responsibilities
Performs all diagnostic CT procedures per hospital protocol to include but not limited to brain, chest, facial, spinal, pelvis, abdomen, extremities, biopsies, drainages, nephrostomies, TMJ, renal, orbits, computed tomography angiography, oral and IV contrast. Experience in IV access and power injections. Prepares contrast media for administration and/or assists radiologist in administering contrast media and practices sterile techniques. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development and understands the range of treatment needed for all age groups. Assist Radiologist in obtaining the necessary anatomical and pathological data, pertinent patient history, and supporting clinical data to diagnose a variety of conditions and diseases. Provides for patient's physical and emotional needs in a wide variety of circumstances. Documents all appropriate paperwork relative to exams. Able to acquire, format, manipulate, archive, and print images on the area specific digital acquisition devices. Performs all duties necessary to ensure the harmonious operation of the CT department. Demonstrates patient flow, preparation, clean up, and turn around of CT exam room. Provides back-up support to co-workers as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned. Seeks out applicable continuing education opportunities. Mentors CT students. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with patients, staff and the public.
Education Requirements
Graduate of an accredited radiologic school and CT technologist training program and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiology and eligible for CT. Must pass CT boards within one year of employment.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements
CT Technologist 1: Great knowledge of anatomy and physiology, asepsis, sterile techniques and radiological positioning. Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Ability to acquire, format, manipulate, archive and print images on the area specific digital acquisition devices. Critical thinking skills, including using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Good knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/application/software. Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks. Ability to work effectively under pressure and to use discretion with confidential data. Demonstrates some ability to provide conflict resolution/problem-solving among peers and other disciplines. Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required. Rotating Shifts may be required.
