POSITION SUMMARY:
As an industry authority, provides both internal and external consulting services. Works independently on advanced systems/software analysis projects. Remains current in operating systems/software analysis and technological developments/applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems. Manages IT systems infrastructure and any process related to these systems.
Plans, designs, implements, and maintains Enterprise Exchange systems in integration with a large scale Enterprise environment.
Develops designs, prototypes, and working code for key feature sets or applications; provides thought- and technical-leadership in one or more key areas.
Identifies system requirements for operations and security, and works with other engineers and staff to develop designs and integrate components.
Performs system designs, developments and product verification testing on power, control systems, software, hardware, and equipment.
Develops the operations, management, integration & security requirements.
Develops and documents system architecture, including relevant user cases.
Develops security procedures for design reviews, and for operational monitoring, recording, and responding to security events.
Defines operations, security and integration tool requirements to allow users to evaluate and analyze their network resources for performance and scalability in test-bed and modeled environments.
Provides technical direction and oversees integration and prototype development efforts.
Develops models for future architectural enhancements to system hardware.
Completes testing and documents for working code.
Maintains, supports, and enhancing existing solutions.
Works closely with the Delivery team and customers to assess feasibility of requested deliverables and establish product delivery schedule. Provides input to commitments and schedules.
Works closely and actively with other team members to ensure that interdependent deliverables are accomplished according to schedule. This includes, in addition to code, the creation of internal documents, documentation, testing, samples, etc.
Takes ownership and ensures proactive closure for problem reports that fall within or appear to fall within area of responsibility; works closely with internal customers to quickly and successfully closeout problem reports.
Develops advanced technological ideas and guides their development into a final product.
Develops and may conduct training programs.
Recommends future direction or projects to management.
Provides expertise and direction in the development or modification of complex software programs to enhance an operating system.
Provides advice and guidance to less experienced staff.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires bachelor's degree (in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering or related field) or equivalent and 16 to 18 years of related experience.
Must possess minimum of 6 years LINUX workstation, server, and network support experience, and have a minimum of 4 years supporting WAN remote systems.
Shall be certified as a Red Hat Certified Technician.
Security Clearance:
Must be able to obtain TS/SCI with full-scope polygraph security clearance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
