SURGICAL TECH - PER DIEM HOURS (FRAMINGHAM)
GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse or Supervisor and according to established policies, procedures, and OR standards, assists with surgical procedures as a scrub member of the surgical team for patients of all ages. Prepares instruments and maintains a clean and safe surgical environment.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Clinical Practice: Is competent as a scrub in all services. Prepares instruments; ensures all instruments and equipment are available and prepared according to surgeon preference. Ensures proper care of instruments and equipment. Provides a clean and safe environment for patients and other staff members. 2. Leadership: May act as a preceptor/assists in supervising activities of other O.R. technicians and unlicensed team members. 3. Documentation: Assists in maintaining accurate counts pre-, intra-, and post-operatively. Documentation must be complete and accurate according to established legal and Hospital guidelines. 4. Communication: Communicates and collaborates with all health team members and patients effectively. 5. Education: Assures current and quality practice is maintained through participating in and keeping informed of unit/Hospital committees, staff meetings, and other related activities.
