Surgical Services Sched/Billing Specialist
1. Performs duties according to department specific expectations as identified and assigned.
2. Schedules procedures considering the availability of procedure room, equipment, staff and Anesthesia care provider utilizing surgical scheduling system.
3. Logs daily patient and procedural information into the mandatory computerized post-case log to meet all Joint Commission requirements.
4. Facilitates the collection of statistical data and prepares reports for management.
5. Prepares patient records and submits patient billing information for processing daily.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience/Education
Preferred:
Operating Room experience or completion of Surgical Technology program Clerical/receptionist experience or related experience in a health care field Computer experience with medium level excel experience
Required:
Medical terminology course or equivalent hospital experience
Experience working with surgical supplies and understanding of surgical procedures
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of computers, fax machines, copy machines and telephone etiquette.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Secretarial/receptionist skills
Oral and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Ability to deal effectively with a variety of patients, physicians and staff.
Ability to maintain composure/organization under stressful, sometimes chaotic situations.
Ability to maintain function/flow in spite of frequent interruptions.
