SP&P Technician II (Phlebotomist) Facility: Lexington Medical Center Lexington Department: Clinical Laboratory - Procurement Schedule: Full time Shift: Weekend Hours: 4:00 am-2:30 pm Job Details: - High School Diploma Basic Functions: SP&P Tech II's perform venipuncture/capillary puncture for blood specimen collection and subsequent processing for all neonate, adult and geriatric patients. SP&P Techs must present a consistently professional appearance and adhere to hospital customer service expectations related to communication, appreciation and respect of all parties in which they come into contact. Techs are also required to exhibit a high degree of skill to foster user confidence of LMC clinical laboratory services. Will also perform bedside test analysis and collect non-blood specimens, as instructed. Minimum Qualifications: Must meet at least one of the following criteria: 1. Successful completion of formal phlebotomy training program/6 months of Employment in LMC laboratory 2. Has ASCP certification (PBT) or eligibility for certification, or other approved national certification agency 3. Has gained experience through fulltime/part-time or PRN as a beyond standard Level I Tech High School Diploma or equivalent Must have excellent customer service skills Possesses a high degree of independence, problem solving ability and focus on effective teamwork Will need to exhibit above average interpersonal communication skills Preferred Qualifications: PBT (ASCP) National certification in phlebotomy 2+ years of high volume phlebotomy experience
