Primary Role
Leads teams that plans, forecasts and implements new network technologies of high complexity.
Participates in network architecture design and engineering.
Evaluates new products and develops technical standards.
Participates in enterprise-wide on-call rotation.
Performs troubleshooting procedures and designs resolution scripts.
Leads enterprise-wide assignments.
Works on projects/issues of high complexity that require in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments.
Maintains and increases knowledge of IS network systems.
Increases knowledge of industry trends, future technologies and client issues that may impact network strategies and direction.
Coaches and mentors Level I and Level II staff.
Serves as expert for management task forces and committees.
Participates and provides feedback to improve corporate and IS processes including, but not limited to, work flow, project management, time accounts, and employee reviews.
Responsibilities
Expected to maintain expertise in the latest networking technologies and develop standardized solutions and best practices for network design and configurations.
Contributes to the analysis and design for current and emerging technologies for deployment across the enterprise, including but not limited to layer 2\3 LAN switching, routing technologies.
Performs network architecture reviews and develops detailed engineering design and deployment plans.
Provides documentation to support development, implementation and training along with presenting to technical and non- technical audiences.
Provides high-level support and rapid resolution to complex network problems. Demonstrates ability to use network analysis tools and apply industry standard best practices approach to support issues.
Provides mentoring for junior engineers and participate in rotating on call responsibilities.
Participates in cross-functional meetings in support of projects and operational duties.
Works with LAN\WAN hardware including patch panels, Fiber Optics, Cat5e and Cat 6 wiring, DTE and DCE devices.
Works with the Service Desk using the supporting ticketing system to resolve customer incidents and tasks.
