Responsibilities Ensures the security and safety of all patients, visitors, staff, and property by patrolling assigned interior and exterior areas of the hospital. Promptly answers calls for service. Works to prevent vandalism to BJRH property and vehicles located on BJRH property. Maintains visitor control and investigates irregularities provides information and assistance to patients, visitors and staff. Detects security concerns such as suspicious individuals, vehicles and/or situations, takes control of those situations, and handles them appropriately. Ensures the security/safety of staff, patients and visitors by maintaining control and order in the Emergency Department lobby, waiting areas, ambulance bay and E.D. treatment areas. Provides escorts for staff entering and exiting building. The officer will assist by enforcing parking regulations, traffic control and the BJRH tobacco free policy. Responds to any and all emergency codes calls in a prompt and professional manner and follow the policy of the particular code when the code is activated Assists staff and visitors in providing a safe and secure atmosphere when a patient restraint must be performed. Prepares reports in accordance with departmental policy Recognizes a situation that requires intervention by BJRH Public Safety management or local Police. Assists outside law enforcement agencies having official business within the hospital with directions, locations and information while abiding by hospital and HIPAA rules and regulations. Properly logs all confiscated items, lost and found property and any property requiring higher level of maintenance due to value or.. Releases property following proper procedure. Receives and delivers bodies from the morgue and ensures the security and integrity of the morgue Properly completes all morgue documentation. Displays a high level of service excellence in all interactions. This is a non-sworn non-armedposition
Education RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in Police Science or related field preferred.
Minimum Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Ability RequirementsThree (3) years of security, law enforcement or related field. Ability to use security equipment including tasers, two-way radios, handcuffs, ASP baton, pepper foam, computers, cameras, etc. Possess courage Additional Information
Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required. Rotating Shifts may be required.
