Job Title Scientist I / II Cell Biology Location US-MA-Waltham Job Category Research & Preclinical Development Requisition Number 12841BR Job Description Biogen Idec is seeking a highly motivated scientist with experience in mammalian cell line development, protein expression, and assay development. The position involves cell line development with different mammalian host cell lines, expression of variety of protein therapeutic candidates and development of related assays to support dynamic drug discovery projects. The incumbent will be an integral part of research project teams with close interaction with process development groups. The successful candidate is expected to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment. Qualifications Strong background in cell and molecular biology is required. Extensive cell culture and protein expression experiences are essential. Hands-on experiences on SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA, FACS and fluorescence microscopy are expected. The successful candidate should a strong interest to learn new technologies, pay attention to details, and have good organization skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is desirable. Education The incumbent will have a Ph.D. in cell biology, biochemistry or related field, have 1 to 5 years of relevant experience (biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry and postdoctoral research) and demonstrate proven track record of productivity.
