Minimum Skills/Requirements Two to three years college level courses/Associate's Degree/Diploma in Nursing. State of New Mexico License required. Less than one year experience in nursing. Requires detailed knowledge of nursing practice and care delivery in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is done. This staff member must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served. Primary Job Functions Utilizes the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift. Collaborates with others on healthcare team to coordinate care and educate patients and families. Delegates care to and supervises nursing assistive personnel as appropriate. . Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, patient and family education and patient responses. . Coordinates patients' care and education along the healthcare continuum through collaboration with the patient, family and healthcare team. . Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by physician, clinical path or standard protocols. . Delegates or assigns aspects of patient care to healthcare team members commensurate with their validated competency to perform the task. . Assists physicians with various procedures, treatments, surgical techniques or delegates/assigns to other healthcare team members as appropriate. . Supervises LPNs and other non-licensed personnel, assists in orientation of new staff or students, and serves as a resource person and professional role model. . Maintains professional responsibility for knowledge of current nursing research, practice, standards, and hospital policies, procedures, and programs to improve patient care quality. . Assumes other leadership roles as required by the department to include relief charge nurse responsibilities as appropriate. . Maintains patient confidentiality, privacy and safe environment and Body Substance Isolation standards. . Performs other functions as required.
