RN (pool, residential treatment)

We're recruiting for POOL RNsfor our 48-bed residential treatment center for youth inScottsdale. Once you're hired, this position requires training (paid) and you'll need to be available forALLdays/times to be considered. Upcoming new hire orientation is as scheduled: JUNE NEW HIRE ORIENTATION: Mon, June 7th- Fri, June 11th: 8:30am-5pm & Mon, June 14th(Also Fri, June 18th, 8:30am-5pm, if your CPR/1st Aid certification is over 1yr old).
Our Residential Treatment Center (RTC) is a 48-bed facility where children and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioral disorders live, attend school, receive intense psychiatric, behavior management and social services. We have programs for children ranging from 5 to 17 years old.
The RTC admits children and adolescents with a wide range of issues. As a nurse, you may be working with clients who:
- lack stability in mood or temperament
- have difficulty forming relationships
- have disruptive behavior
- are oppositional or defiant
- have trouble paying attention
- are depressed or suicidal
- have been physically or sexually abuse
- have a history of substance abuse

What does a typical day look like for an RN?

DAY SHIFT:
- Start the shift by counting the narcotics, keys, phones, and pulse ox.
- Obtain report from the night shift.
- Prepare for the first medication administration of the day (occurs between 7 and 8am).
- Attend morning meeting at 9am.
- Call the pharmacy to clarify issues/follow-up needs for RX.
- Call parents/guardians for consents to change medications.
- Transcribe orders throughout the day.
- Assess clients for medical issues, first aide, ESIs and IRs as necessary.
- Prepare other medication administrations.
- Admit and/or discharge clients, send or receive clients from passes.
- Obtain clients for the doctors or medical treatments as necessary.
- End the shift by performing the narcotic count with the next shift.

EVENING SHIFT:
- Start the shift by counting the narcotics, keys, phones, and pulse ox.
- Obtain report from the day shift.
- Prepare for evening medication pour.
- Obtain clients that need to be seen by NP and transcribe any orders received.
- Attend to all medical issues, first aide, medical treatments, ESI assessments, and IR assessments.
- Complete any paper work remaining from admissions/discharges.
- End the shift by performing the narcotic count with the next shift.
OVERNIGHT SHIFT:
- Start shift by counting narcotics, phones, keys, and examining the pulse oximeter.
- Obtain report from the evening shift. Start duties which include; ordering medications, reviewing medications delivered, filing lab work, prepare medications for passes, establish paperwork for discharges, stock various forms if necessary, prepare admission packets, monitor cleanliness & functioning of the refrigerators, change over nurses' notes, check equipment to assure it's working properly, and restock first aid & blood spill kits for all dorms and classrooms.
- Perform rounds on campus every two hours.
- End shift by performing narcotic count with the next shift
