RN Navigator- Cancer Center, Bronson Battle Creek Salary Range: Competitive Department: BBC Radiation Oncology Schedule: Casual/Per Diem Shift: 1st shift Hours: Variable 8-hr shifts Job Details: A significant responsibility of this position is the coordination of the Patient Navigator Program. This position requires the nurse to be able to coordinate the scheduling of tests so that a patient will have his/her diagnosis and be able to start treatment within 7-10 business days. This RN needs to be flexible and able to work with multiple physician offices to coordinate patient appointments. Must be able to work with both Radiation and Medical Oncology when staffing coverage is needed. Reporting to the manager of the Cancer Care Center and according to department care standards, functions as a member of both Radiation and Outpatient Medical Oncology's patient care team to provide professional patient care services to general and medically complex medical and radiation oncology patients requiring acute medical and nursing interventions for a variety of cancer diagnoses. These diagnoses may include but are not limited to: breast, lung, prostate, brain, colon, head and neck patients, brachytherapy and radiation patients, chemotherapy patients, and patients with oncologic emergencies. In doing so the RN demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of the patients served, ages 18 and over, and is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care provided to assigned patients.
