Position Summary:
1. Continually assesses the physical and emotional
needs of each patient.
2. Demonstrates awareness of the key
elements of the treatment plans for all assigned patients.
3.
Implements quality patient care to assigned patients.
4.
Participates in assigned groups/activities to meet the needs of
various patient populations and/or diagnostic groups.
5.
Participates with other personnel in maintaining a safe and
therapeutic milieu.
6. Maintains professional standards of
preparation, performance, and attitude.
7. Promotes and
maintains departmental functioning in a professional manner.
8.
Assists in the physical, psychological, and social assessment of
patients upon admission and through discharge.
9. Develops,
implements, evaluates, and revises individualized care and treatment
plans.
10. Contacts parents or guardian with each medication
change.
11. Completes weekly infection control rounds,
medication effectiveness sheets, and charting.
12. Makes
outside doctor appointments for patients.
13. Facilitates
nursing groups weekly or as needed.
14. Attends
multidisciplinary staffing and serves as the medical and nursing
representative.
15. Serves as liaison with the Medical
Director, Pediatrician, Pharmacist, Dietician, Caterer, and
consulting physicians.
16. Receives, documents, transcribes,
and carries out physicians orders.
17. Facilitates
patient’s daily reception of medication specific to therapeutic
passes, recreational outings, and discharge.
18. Participates
in provision of emergency care as needed.
19. Monitors
effectiveness of medication regimen.
20. Redirects patients to
maintain infection control criteria.
21. Assumes Behavioral
Health Worker responsibilities as assigned.
22. Follows proper
department safety procedures and demonstrates safe work practices,
including proper lifting techniques.
23. Adheres to all
Midwest Center for Youth and Families’ policies and procedures.
24. Meets the Attendance and Punctuality policy.
25.
Performs other duties as assigned.
26. Follows Corporate Fleet
Program guidelines:
• Passed MVR background check.
• Renewed Driver’s License copied and forwarded to HR
within 30 days of renewal.
Requirements
1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
2. Basic understanding of psychiatric nursing theory, and
practice, with previous psychiatric clinical experience required.
3. Must be at least 21 years of age.
4. Demonstrated clinical
competency in providing general nursing care.
5. Current LPN/RN
Licensure in the state of Indiana.
6. CPR, First Aid, and
crisis intervention training required.
7. Must have a valid
Indiana driver’s license, good driving record, and physical
ability to
safely operate motor vehicles required.
