Within the Surgery Department at EWH, we provide the highest quality of care in a warm, personalized setting for the patients we serve. We pride ourselves on both our professionalism and compassion.
5 Main Operating Rooms, 1 Endoscopy Suite, and 1 Cystoscopy Suite; 8 PACU Beds; 10 Same Day Surgery Beds
Type of Surgical Cases: Total Joints, Orthopedics, Spine, General, GU, ENT, Vascular, and Plastics, TMJ surgeries
Pre-Op Department also works with patients scheduled for outpatient Radiology Department procedures and IV therapy (antibiotics and blood) cases
Skill Mix:
Surgery/OR: Registered Nurses (prefer CNOR) and Surgical Technologists (Certified)
PACU: Registered Nurses
SDS/Endoscopy: Registered Nurses
American Heart Association BCLS for Operating room and Same Day Surgery Nurses; American Heart Association ACLS certification required for all PACU and Endoscopy RNs
Special Competencies/Skills Needed: Must have a minimum of ONE year of hospital OR experience (including experience with total joints and spinal cases)
Schedules: 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, with on-call requirements
Dress code: Home-Laundered Scrubs
Complete computerized charting through the Meditech system ("Electronic Health Record") for patient assessment and all care documentation
Electronic medication administration record (eMAR) is used for the delivery of all medications provided to patients and has significantly reduced errors associated with the administration of medication hospital-wide

Qualifications:
Required Job Qualifications include:
Current licensure as an RN.
Current certification as a BLS and ACLS Healthcare Provider.
Must live within a 30-minute drive time radius of the hospital for on-cal requirements.
Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.
