Oversees daily respiratory care functions necessary for comprehensive and high quality care.
Ensures respiratory therapy services are provided to patients in a professional and appropriate manner.
Ensures patients and caregivers can effectively operate and maintain equipment.
Assists other respiratory therapy personnel on the uses and instruction of more complex equipment.
Monitors branch compliance to quality assurance and control procedures by conducting routine audits of respiratory care services provided.
Maintains proper procedures for conducting and evaluating quality assurance reviews.
Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance appraisal and disciplining of subordinate staff.
Supervises the activities of subordinate staff. Provides direction and guidance in work assignments.
Ensures timely and accurate completion of tasks.
Typically supervises 4 - 8 primarily nonexempt employees.
Ensures respiratory therapy services are provided to patients in compliance with company policies and procedures and JCAHO standards.
Conducts in-services and on-going educational training classes for personnel.
Consults with referring physician regarding patient treatment, medical condition and home environment.
Regular and consistent attendance and punctuality is considered an essential job function of this position.
Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education or experience equivalent to a four year college degree is required.
At least six years related experience is required.
Registration or certification by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) or RN with respiratory care experience, and/or licensure in the state of practice. Current license in appropriate state of practice is required.
Successful completion of Apria's respiratory therapy orientation and competency evaluation program.
Must possess a valid and current driver's license and auto insurance.
NOTE: In states without licensure requirements for Respiratory Therapists, contractual staff designated as Respiratory Therapists by their employing institution need only meet those requirements necessary to fulfill the standards of practice in their area.
