Registered Nurse – New Graduate Opportunity Ontario Nursing Workforce Alliance Make your Mark in Nursing - Start your career with the Ontario Nursing Workforce Alliance! New Graduate Opportunities for Those Interested in Rural and Remote Nursing PERMANENT FULL-TIME OPPORTUNITIES exist for new graduate nurses who are eligible for Health Force Ontario (HFO) funding to be part of an exciting new initiative called theOntario Nursing Workforce Alliance (ONWA). ONWAwas created by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, in partnership with the University Health Network (UHN) to respond to nurse staffing needs for rural and remote areas in Ontario. For more information, please Nurses within theAlliancewill be hired as full-time employees at UHN; however, they will be assigned to practice in satellite partner healthcare organizations across northern Ontario on a rotational basis for 3-12 month (maximum renewable) secondments. Transportation and accommodation costs will be provided to nurses. During the first three months of employment, orientation will be provided in downtown Toronto at UHN, with some follow up orientation at the satellite site(s). Subsequent assignments will be based on staffing need at the satellite organizations and the nurses' interest, knowledge, skill level and learning needs. Assignments are currently available at the following satellite organizations: * Hospital Notre Dame (Hearst) * Smooth Rock Falls Hospital />* Weeneebayko Area Health Authority * MICs Group of Health Services (Matheson, Iroquois Falls & Cochrane) * Manitouwadge General Hospital * Sensenbrenner Hospital * Nipigon District General Hospital * Hornepayne Community Hospital />* (Other satellite organizations may be confirmed for future secondments at a later date.) If you have a passion for nursing and an adventurous spirit, then we would love for you to join our team! To apply to become an ONWA nurse you must be a new graduate who is eligible for HFO funding and has successfully completed the CNRE exam (or enrolled to write the exam). REQUIREMENTS: * Graduated from an Ontario undergraduate nursing program in 2011 * Eligible for Health Force Ontario (HFO) funding * Not employed or previously accepted for Health Force Ontario funding * Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario QUALIFICATIONS: * Comfort with independent, autonomous nursing practice * Possess the interest, courage and flexibility to practice nursing in a variety of health care settings * Ability to adapt to a changing environment and assume responsibility for own learning * Demonstrated leadership skills and ability University Health Network thanks all applicants, however for non-UHN employees, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
