REGISTERED NURSE - EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT - RESOURCE Department: Emergency Department Schedule: Resource Shift: Varies Hours: varies, 3-11p, 11p-7a Hours Per Pay Period: 16 Job Details: POSITION SUMMARY
1. A RN will triage all patients arriving to the La Porte Regional Hospital Emergency Department
to identify life-threatening conditions and prioritize patients according to acuity.
2. The following steps should occur when making the triage decision (ENA, 1995,p.37):
The triage nurse will initiate the medical record. This will include: means of arrival, date, time,
sex, age, race, name, chief complaint, allergies, current medications, immunization status, last
known menstrual period for patient over 8, and a complete set of vital signs.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development through educational programs related to the specialty of emergency nursing. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of employment. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) within one year of employment.
