A Registered Nurse is responsible for the nursing care of patients guided by policies and procedures of the hospital. The Registered Nurse will provide a leadership role based on unit practice. Applies nursing process in direct patient care: * Provides accurate assessment of physiological, psycho social, cultural, developmental, socioeconomic, and spiritual needs of patient as evidenced by written assessment within time frame appropriate for level of care * Provides Information to patient/family relating to educational resources available, Directs patient/family educational process * Provides discharge planning beginning on admission with appropriate referrals and update as required by the patient * Adheres to the admission and transfer criteria Adheres to accepted policies and procedures in providing patient care including, but not limited to the following : * Medication Administration * Intravenous Therapy Treatment Modalities * Blood Withdrawal and Administration * Emergency Care * Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures * Evaluates and documents outcomes of nursing Interventions * Incorporates time management skills in accomplishing care Education * Maintains current licensure, certifications, education, and physical health standards * Obtains a minimum of 15 units of continuing education annually, 12 of which must be within area of specialty. * Successfully completes written and practical competencies Required Licensure and/or Certifications: * Current California Registered Nursing license required * BSN or MSN preferred * 1 year of acute hospital experience preferred. * BCLS Certification * Advanced emergency intervention certification required for some specialty areas Working Conditions: * Work often performed under stressful, emotional, and physical conditions EOE Additional Information
