Job Objective: WIC Registered Dietitian is responsible for determining nutritional risks, prescribing the food instruments as well as evaluating the participants for the WIC Program according to prescribed State of California guidelines. Gives nutrition counseling and education in WIC Clinics. Assesses the WIC participant for health and nutrition status, determines the participant's level and type of intervention and documents the information into ISIS. Plans appropriate follow up for Level 3 and 4 participants on the INEP screen. Completes other job duties as assigned. Essential Duties: 1. Performs enrollments, mid-certification, re-certifications, terminations and nutrition counseling in the WIC Clinic according to WIC State guidelines 2. Enters all medical information correctly into ISIS as well as appropriate comments concerning nutrition counseling. 3. Accurately records all Nutrition Education contacts in ISIS, makes appropriate follow up appointments and provides and explains all needed paper work for next appointment. 4. Facilitates communications between participants, staff, & Dr's to maintain a good working relationship. 5. Teaches classes and prepares lesson plan to be used for class as assigned. 6. Certifies Level 3 & 4 participants, provides necessary counseling and refers back to the Doctor or clinic for follow up when indicated. 7. INEP documentation is appropriate, refers to risks indicated and follow up plan is appropriate. 8. Follows correct procedure for taking heights and weights in clinic. 9. Spends appropriate time completing participant contacts. 10. Accurately evaluates diet recall. ii. Verities medical information by phone with Dr's offices and clinics as needed. 12. Attends State or Agency training sessions each year as required. 13. Has valid California driver's license and current car insurance. Non-Essential Duties: Bilingual ability in English and Spanish language is desirable. Skills and Abilities: Ability to adhere with AVH Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy. Ability to adhere to the normal standards of courtesy and conduct as defined under the rules of hospitality at AVH. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of patient, hospital and department information. Ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations. Safely and effectively uses all equipment necessary to carry out duties. Ability to interpret and function under hospital and department policies and procedures. Conforms with required and appropriate JCAHO requirements. Conforms with and supports hospital quality assurance and improvement guidelines. Ability to participate effectively in department and hospital staff education. Display a willingness to work as a team player. Ability to give and support the highest level of patient/customer satisfaction at all times. Supports and adheres to the values and mission statement established by the AVH Board of Directors. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of Corporate Compliance rules and regulations, complies with duty to report behavior standard, demonstrates understanding of purpose for Corporate Compliance hotline, and importance of seeking guidance from a supervisor when in doubt regarding a possible corporate compliance issue. Required Licensure and/or Certifications: * Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetic Association * Attend State sponsored training sessions as required Working Conditions: * Work often performed under stressful conditions. * Work usually performed in clinic setting. * Must be able to work schedule required by needs of the Program.
