Description: Job Description
Under the administrative direction of the Diagnostic Supervisor, the Radiologic Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures at a level of competence not requiring constant supervision to technical detail. Assumes responsibility for designated areas, procedures and students as assigned.
PRIMARY RESPONIBILITIES
Clinical
Operates imaging equipment correctly per procedure. Calculates exposure factors and keeps exposure as low as possible with optimum image quality.
Maintains a good work pace and is productive according to established departmental thresholds.
Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Explains procedure, reassuring patient and securing his/her full cooperation during testing. Relays information to physician without alarming patient. Reports changes in patients condition or behavior to physician.
Completes testing for both in-and-outpatients; in the department, the emergency ward, and on the floors. Responsible for the completion of all procedures scheduled during the assigned shift.
Lifts, moves transports and positions patients for diagnostic studies.
Completes routine procedures in the required time frame. Reports any incomplete assignments to ensure continuity of procedure. Completes work from previous shift, and assists others as requested and permitted.
Operations
Handles patient records and filing. Completes necessary paperwork, computer work on each examination performed as directed, including, but not limited to: documentation for physician and hospital billing.
Assumes responsibility for keeping department in a clean, neat and orderly condition.
Customer Service/Quality Improvement
Handles routine questions from referring physicians, patients and families.
Adheres to hospital-wide standards and department specific standards for service excellence, including, but not limited to: identification of and response to customer needs, appropriate communication, protection of patient privacy and confidentiality, etc.
Maintains a professional relationship and cooperative rapport with co-workers, other healthcare professionals, supervisors and others in positions of authority.
Communicates in a professional manner with particular emphasis on interacting positively and respectfully with patients, visitors and others. Responds constructively to feedback from any customer group (patients, visitors, co-workers, physicians, departments, etc.).
Coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift. Adjusts and revises schedule, as necessary, in view of; stat orders, admissions, outpatient walk-ins, and fluctuations in patient workload. Assists in other areas of department work, filling in clerical work, working on projects, assisting others, studying or learning new procedures, responding to emergency situations, tracking QA and QI, etc.
Identifies opportunities and makes recommendations for operations improvements in a positive manner. Contributes to department problem solving with a "team" perspective.
Documents problems in department for Quality Improvement review.
Leadership/Professional
Demonstrates a complete understanding of policies and procedures concerning job responsibilities as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual.
Demonstrates understanding of Code Blue, Fire and Disaster Plan and Infection Control Policies; demonstrates proficiency in technical and RMS skills and PACS.
Maintains all licensure, certification and / or registration required for the position. Maintains competencies through regular participation in service education programs. Assumes responsibility for continuing professional education and development. Keeps up-to-date best Qualifications:
