Radiology Technician Assistant (RTA) Facility: Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia Department: Radiology Support Schedule: Part Time Shift: Part Time - Weekend Rotation Hours: EVERY OTHER WEEKEND 7:30-4, EVERY OTHER FRI+TUES. 4-11 Job Details: - High School Diploma Basic Functions: The Radiology Tech Assistant is responsible for assisting the imaging technologists, nurses, and radiologists with all daily activities of the department as described. These duties include maintaining adequate supplies in exam rooms, handling of oxygen tanks, developing and copying films, knowledge of radiology filing system, transporting patients to/from all imaging areas, greeting patients and assist in preparing the patients for exams, preparation of the examination rooms, and dismissing the patient after the exam is completed giving any special instructions needed. Properly identifies all patients for radiology procedures and safely transports or assists them to the radiology exam room. Transports supplies, equipment and instruments, charts, records, x-rays and reports for the department. Returns and /or deliver items to appropriate areas or personnel. Minimum Qualifications: High school Diploma or equivalent Demonstrates the competence to assist in the care for all patients Must have excellent people skills and desire to interact with public on constant basis Must have excellent communication skills and be able to understand both written and oral instructions Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience as radiology patient transporter or nursing assistant Working knowledge of radiology/imaging areas Knowledge of medical terminology Participation in or desire to study Radiologic Science program or related course work
