Job Summary:
Under immediate supervision, performs selected and delegated nursing tasks in the care of patients. Position Responsibilities: Essential functions: . Assures compliance with regulatory standards. . Performs patient observation, document patient care, and patient response to care and communicates significant information to the registered nurse and other appropriate team members. . Assists patients, families, and visitors with various needs to enhance customer service. . Performs transporter duties as needed. . Performs procedures as defined by department competencies. . Maintains supplies and equipment. . Assures safe, therapeutic environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff. . Considers age, growth, and development when providing care. . Under the direction of the nurse, assists in education of patients and families. . Participates in staff development and orientation of new staff. . Performs de-escalation and violence management interventions to manage physical/verbal aggression by patients. . Performs other clerical duties as assigned. . Performs other work as assigned . Qualifications:
Required: . Graduation from high school or equivalent. Preferred: . Completion of 75 hr, 120 hr or 150 hr Certified Nursing Assistant program. . "Eligible for Employment/Active" on the Iowa Direct Care Worker (DCW) Registry. . College course work in social sciences and humanities. Special . Ability to assist nursing personnel with adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. . Read, write and speak fluent English. . Ability to explain designated procedures and give information. . Beginning skills in the use of specialized equipment and/or technique. License/Registration: None.
