Job Description
1. Ensure all department procedures are understood and followed.
2. Develop thorough knowledge of departmental SOPs, Specs, GMPs, and GDPs.
3. Understand plant environmental health and safety regulations and comply with said regulations accordingly.
4. Set-up, startup, and process all molds and molding machines to optimum process / cycle conditions, and make sure the machines are operating within validated operating parameters.
5. Operate, perform machine adjustment, and maintain all equipment to meet quality and safety regulations.
6. Assist operators in processing and minor troubleshooting related to plastic process issues (i.e. shorts, flash, splay, imbedded PM, dieseling, etc.)
7. Perform basic repairs / routine maintenance on molds, molding machines, and auxiliary equipment.
8. Perform shutdowns, mold pulls, mold changeovers and establish cycle sheets / process documentation.
9. Communicate and work effectively with department personnel and all support groups (Quality, Mold Shop, Maintenance) to implement and attain departmental goals and objectives (production, safety, quality, etc.)
10. Lead the shift and report shift performance in the absence of the Supervisor (Downtime, Production, Scrap).
11. Participate in all training programs.
12. Lead Process Management Teams, Safety, GMP and LEAN initiatives as well as other special projects.
13. Monitor production to schedule and direct labor efficiency.
14. Must have a working knowledge / computer literacy sufficient to report production, downtime and scrap (i.e. AS400, Plant Control/Inventory Management software)
15. Must be willing to work flexible hours as required.
Job Requirements
1. High School diploma required and a minimum of 3 years relevant experience (mold setup, mold startup, processing, mold pulling, changeovers); 5-10 years of experience is more preferred.
2. Processing experience; RJG Systematic 1 Molding Certification (preferred)
3. Good mechanical aptitude. Additional technical skills and training are preferred (examples include molding machine specific process/maintenance training, screw and barrel maintenance, robotics maintenance and/or programming, etc.)
4. Ability and skills to develop and execute solutions to complex plastic processing issues and/or scheduling issues in a dynamic manufacturing environment; leadership skills to implement those solutions in a team environment
5. Proficient computer skills (MS WORD and EXCEL).
6. Complete plant requirements and training
7. Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
8. Experience with high precision (tight tolerance), high cavitation molds (preferred)
9. Experience with hot runner molds and hot runner controllers (preferred)
10. Experience with ISO 13485 and medical molding (most preferred)
