Physician Assistant Electrophysiology
JOB DESCRIPTION: Physician Assistant- Electrophysiology Position Summary :
The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is responsible for patient care in conjunction with the attending physician including but not limited to inpatient electrophysiology floor service patient care, admissions, discharges, daily rounds, and notes. Inpatient care also includes urgent/emergent inpatient assessments and treatment.
The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is responsible for patient care in conjunction with the attending physician including but not limited to electrophysiology outpatient ambulatory care for consults, first evaluations, re-evaluations in addition to urgent/emergent outpatient evaluation of electrophysiology patients in triage.
The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is responsible for patient care in conjunction with the attending physician including but not limited to outpatient ambulatory care of the Congestive Heart Failure patients for first evaluations, re-evaluations and both inpatient and outpatient consultations in addition to urgent/emergent outpatient evaluation of CHF patients in triage.
The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is responsible for patient care in conjunction with the attending physician and device clinic nurses for routine device evaluation, problematic device evaluations, evaluating and treating arrhythmias, evaluating and treating symptomatic patients both urgent and non-urgent and preparing patients for upcoming device upgrades and generator changes including extractions and revisions.
The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is responsible for patient care in conjunction with the attending physician including but not limited to (same day procedure) OPPU/EMTI admissions, discharges, urgent and non-urgent care of those patients including but not limited to discharge instructions, patient education and follow up care.
The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is responsible for additional duties as required including but not limited to triaging patient acute-visit phone calls, patient communication phone calls, medication refills, pharmacy phone communication, visiting nurse communication, referring physician communication. In addition the clinician is responsible for evaluating and completing disability forms for patients in conjunction with attending physicians.
The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is responsible for additional duties as required including but not limited to anticoagulation management of electrophysiology and congestive heart failure patients.
The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is responsible for additional duties as required including but not limited to evaluation of diagnostic testing ordered and obtained by electrophysiology and congestive heart failure clinics including relaying of this information to the attending physician and patient and acting on any treatment or follow up required in response to the test results. In addition the physician assistant/nurse practitioner will evaluate and treat patients in our cardiac continuous telemetry monitoring clinic and report findings to attending physicians and act on treatment or follow up to patient.
The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is responsible for additional duties in conjunction with attending physician relative to providing evaluation, treatment and care to patients all within the scope of practice. The physician assistant/nurse practitioner is also responsible for dictation of admission History and Physical Exam, Discharge Summary, all outpatient encounters and the billing and scheduling of patients' follow up and testing through electronic means as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Experience :
Minimum 5-7 years nursing and critical care experience with strong Cardiology/ EP/Pacing background preferred.
Education :
Masters degree or greater. Graduate from an ANA accredited School of Nursing
Required License / Credentials :
Required NCCPA Certification, NJ Sate License,CDS, DEA - all current. Approval of credentials and clinical privileges per Center procedure.
Other Required Skills :
Other experience such as current. Must maintain nationally required of 100 hours per 2 year re-certification. Computer proficient.

Responsibilities of the position may require supervision of PA students.

Performs duties commensurate with approved privileges, following established procedures and reporting to immediate supervisor.
