Description
Position Summary:
Obtains venous, arterial, and capillary blood samples from identified patients, labels and returns sample (s)
to the laboratory in a timely manner. Phlebotomists may, under supervision, perform waived testing, certain laboratory procedures, i.e., glucose meters, I-stat determinations and EKG’s. Meets CLIA regulation 493.1423. Responds to physicians and hospital staff in a professional manner, remembering that patient care is our first concern. Reports to Medical Technologist in the event that Team Leader is unavailable, or as delegated by Laboratory Team Leader.
Qualifications/Specifications:
*Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. Graduate of a phlebotomy course and /or PBT (ASCP) preferred.
*Licensure/ Certification: Phlebotomy certification preferred.
*Experience: Prior lab experience preferred.
