The Patient Care Coordinator is responsible to provide direct coordination and supervision of clinical and non-clinical operations of the same day surgery as a part of the Department of Surgical Services. This position shall ensure customer satisfaction through efficient patient flow, while upholding high standards of clinical quality. In addition to coordinating day-to-day operations; under the leadership of the Director shall jointly-oversee and facilitate the functions within human resource, and quality & process improvement. Functional areas and staff reporting directly include Same Day Surgery, Recovery Room and Pre-operative Anesthesia Testing. This position must have the ability to provide patient care at times along with delegated staff in the department. The Patient Care Coordinator shall have a general knowledge about clinical and regulatory standards established by State, ASPAN,AORN, JACHO and CRMC and possess skills to ensure compliance with such standards. Delegated additional duties and project work to ensure the successful completion of departmental goals and objective shall be expected.

This position shall work closely with Surgeons & CRNA's, Medical Director of Peri-Operative Services, Surgical Services Administrator, Department Director and Patient Care Coordinator - Operating Rooms. This position will require the facilitation of work teams, strong delegation of work assignments, independent decision making, problem solving skills and a high degree of self-initiative. The Patient Care Coordinator must have a leadership style that includes a strong relational skills and approach.

Candidate must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. MN RN license, current CPR and ACLS certification (approved by the American Heart Association) is required. Candidate must have a minimum 2-3 years experience in direct patient care and supervisory or lead experience in a health care setting.
