GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: Summarize the nature and level of work performed.
The Emergency Medical Technician provides care for and transportation of patients assigned.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.
Essential:
A. Provide patient care and transportation in accordance with Massachusetts statewide treatment protocols, regulations and laws.
B. Completes assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
C. Operates hospital vehicles safely and in accordance with state law and policy.
D. Assures assigned vehicle, equipment and supplies are in a state of readiness.
E. Communicates and documents accurately, concisely, legibly and in a timely manner according to departmental and hospital policy.
F. Maintains safety awareness and reports unusual occurrences.
G. Completes mandatory in-service training.
H. Participates in Quality Assurance and Improvement activities as directed.
I. Assures security, integrity, and accounting of pharmaceuticals assigned to them.
QUALIFICATIONS:
(MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)
A. Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
B. Evidence of course completion in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation-Healthcare provider level.
C. Evidence of course completion in Advanced Cardiac Life Support.
D. EMT-Paramedic certification from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
E. Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
