Position Overview
SCAâ??s North American Supply Chain business is currently searching for anOccupational Health Nurseto support our manufacturing facilities in Bellemont and Flagstaff, Arizona. Reporting to the Regional Human Resources Manager, theOccupational Health Nurseis responsible for in-plant medical services, including treatment of illness, injury and definitive care as ordered by physicians. The successful candidate will coordinate various activities concerned with industrial hygiene, wellness and health and safety. S/He will assists in maintaining the Companyâ??s safety program to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and the attainment of Company objectives.
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
* Provides necessary in-plant treatment of industrial and non-industrial injuries and illnesses to all company employees. Determines the extent of medical need and makes all necessary referrals for emergency, outpatient, or doctor services. Manages employee disability program by coordinating medical treatment and assisting employees through the process.
* Performs all pre-employment physicals and coordinates other post-offer health assessments, such as job placement analysis, for all new hires.
* Champions health and wellness initiatives throughout the region.
* Performs pre-employment drug testing for all new hires, post-accident, random, and reasonable suspicion testing. Is primary contact person for Medical Review Officer (MRO).
* Is the primary case manager for all work related and non- work related injuries and illnesses for both sites. Preparation and maintenance of all the necessary documents, reports, and records for Workerâ??s Compensation and Disability cases. Coordinating activities with various carriers, area physicians, and site management. Provide treatment for incidents and near misses within a 24-hour period. Assists employee in making necessary arrangements for future treatment.
* Administers return to work program, ensuring prompt return to work of employees suffering work related and non-work related injuries and illnesses. Works with employees and site leadership to coordinate work assignments based on restrictions. Monitors employee progress and assists in returning employee to pre-injury status.
* Counsels employees in matters of physical and emotional health, making necessary referrals to personal physicians or Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Coordinates wellness programs for both sites, including smoking cessation, weight loss, healthy eating, exercise, and flu shots for employees.
* Maintain system of clinical and historical records showing all services rendered to employees and prepared various reports as required. Utilize Occupation Health Management (OHM) software to enter data and reports trends.
* Administers hearing conservation program for both sites. This to include all annual testing, baseline testing and maintaining records for standard threshold shifts and OSHA record keeping. Maintain database of results to ensure compliance.
* Conduct all first aid and CPR training for first aid responders.
* Orders and secures adequate first-aid supplies for offices and medical departments.
* Perform other essential responsibilities as deemed necessary
Minimum Requirements
* Registered Nurse in Arizona required.
* Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) preferred.
* Minimum 5 years experience in industrial nursing and/or emergency care. Industrial medical techniques; Emergency medicine; State regulations regarding Workerâ??s Compensation; OSHA regulations and record keeping requirements; DOT regulations; Audiometric Testing; Respirator Fit Testing. Certified BAT technician, knowledge of and other federal and state regulations.
* TRAVEL: Ability to travel between Southwest facilities through each week. Occasional travel to other SCA facilities as needed.
