Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU)Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) Department: Critical Care Administration Schedule: Full time exempt Shift: Variable Hours: variable Job Details: * Position Description: Individually assesses, plans, manages care, discharge planning, evaluation and documentation of care independently and in collaboration with the PICU intensivists. Serves in supervisory/coordination of care in PICU with intensivists. Acts as resource for staff/resident in the PICU, and liaison for family members with various members of the health care team. Contributes to hospital through support of philosophy and objectives, performance improvement, education and research efforts. Reports to the Intensive Care Nurse Practitioner Coordinator. Performs PICU specific procedures (subject to change): lumbar puncture; radial arterial line placement; femoral central line and arterial line placement; intraosseous needle placement, arterial blood draws. Development of protocols and procedures, and an adjunct to the education of both nursing and resident staff. Operates within scope of practice in accordance with Section 4723.431 of the Ohio Revised Code and rule adopted by the Board of Nursing for Advanced Practice Nurses, the national certifying agency, and according to the Standard Care Arrangement signed by the ICNP and collaborating physician(s). Qualifications Required: Graduate of accredited school of nursing. Licensed to practice professional nursing in the state of Ohio. MSN and graduate of accredited pediatric nurse practitioner program, certified (or eligible) as pediatric nurse practitioner (Acute Care) with Certificate of Authority and Certificate to Prescribe in Ohio. Current Health Care Provider BLS and PALS required, ACLS and TNCC preferred or will obtain. CCRN certification preferred. Must obtain credentialing as member of medical staff. Minimum of 2 years pediatric acute/critical care RN experience. Excellent critical thinking, self motivation and interpersonal communication skills essential. Hours variable based on needs of the PICU (includes nights, weekends, holidays)
