Our medical facility in Bowling Green, Kentucky is currently looking for an experienced Emergency Room RN for a full-time Nights/weekends only position in our busy ED! **** ASK ABOUT OUR SIGN-ON BONUS **** The Facility: Our facility is a 211-bed, acute care facility with over 200 physicians trained in a variety of specialties. We have been a part of south central Kentucky for more than 30 years. Accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Patients are our mission. We place our patient s needs first. Description The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Participates in performance improvement activities to assure continuous quality improvement. Cares for Neonate/Infant (0-12 months) Pediatrics (1 17 years) Adults (18 79 years) Elderly (80+ years). Demonstrates a basic knowledge of physical assessment skills. Follows patient safety standards. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of EMTALA regulations. Utilizes translation services when indicated. Initiates emergent care following established protocols. Demonstrates knowledge regarding administration of medications requiring calculation of doses and rates and close monitoring (i.e. Dopamine, Retavase, Integrellin, Heparin, etc.) Demonstrates the ability to multi-task and act quickly. Demonstrates the ability to perform venipuncture for IV access and phlebotomy. The tasks and responsibilities include: **Assesses, plans and evaluates patient care needs. **Prioritizes patient care based on acuity level and available resources. **Carries out physician orders. **Assists physician during examination, treatment and procedures. **Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, monitors vital signs. **Serves as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for coordinated patient care. **Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. **Instructs and educates patients and families. **Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. **Provides age and culturally appropriate care. **Orients and mentors new staff members. **Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: **Current licensure with the Kentucky State Board of Nursing **Current certification as a BLS Healthcare Provider. **ACLS Certification required within 12 months in department (graduate nurse will achieve certification within 18 months) **PALS Certification required within 12 months in department (graduate nurse will achieve certification within 18 months) **TNCC preferred **Basic Computer Skills **Customer service abilities including effective listening skills. **Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment. **One year ER or critical care experience preferred To apply for this position, please contact Melanie Simon at or [click on "Apply Online" button].
