Position Summary:
This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling all aspects of the assigned department's internal and external customer service, human resource and financial management operations. Acts as a catalyst between the department and its customers and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service and care.
Essential Functions:
- Forecasts, develops and implements policies and procedures in the areas of customer service, human resources and budgetary goals and objectives that are consistent with University of Utah's policies. - Markets and promotes new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers. - Participates in University-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies. - Facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships. - Ensures customer satisfaction by analyzing complaints, concerns and suggestions and providing appropriate follow-through. - Develops departmental strategies consistent with the assigned department's continuous quality improvement program. - Ensures competency of staff through the development and presentation of educational programs and through ongoing staff performance evaluations.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Demonstrated potential ability to perform the essential functions as outlined above. - Ability to provide care to the population served. - Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual. - Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills. - Ability to develop and evaluate standards, policies and procedures and recommend changes to ensure a safe patient environment. - Demonstrated leadership skills. - Ability to plan and direct the work of others. - Demonstrated ability to function calmly and competently in high stress situations.
Qualifications: Required - Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Utah. - Bachelor's degree or equivalency. - Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. - Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card, or obtain one within one month of hire.
