MRI Tech Department: MRI Services Schedule: Per diem Shift: Day/Eve/Night Shift Hours: M-F; weekend and holiday requirement Job Details: * - Associates degree required * - Certification is necessary * - Customer Service skills are required * - Experience is preferred * Under the supervision of the Site Leader and/or Lead Technologist, performs a variety of duties necessary for the smooth operation of the MRI scanner and patient schedule. The Staff Technologist utilizes all their technical skills and training to ensure the safe and accurate operation of the MRI scanner.
1. Provides quality scans, scanning patients in a safe and timely fashion. 2. Screens patients and obtains pertinent clinical history before the MRI examination and fully informs the patient about the exam including noise from the machine, changing clothes, possible contrast, length of exam and what will happen after exam. 3. Follows the protocols and procedures found in the protocol book to ensure that patients receive the proper imaging. When there is a question about the protocol, brings the concern to the Radiologist first, then to the Site Leader's attention if the Radiologist is not available. 4. Ensures all cases are placed into PACs immediately following the exam, and all computer work needed to complete the exam is done. 5. Accurately maintains the scan schedule; checks schedule on a regular basis to ensure the scanner remains on time. 6. Informs the Site Leader, Support Staff, current and waiting patients, as appropriate, any concerns or deviations from the scan schedule. 7. Has the basic skills and knowledge necessary to perform venipunctures in the administration of contrast media. 8. Will be required to take call on a rotating basis for theBeverlyHospitalatDanverssite when the Beverly Mobile is not atBeverlyHospitaldue to PET. 9. Will most likely be required to take call as part of a regular rotation for all other MR sites withinBeverlyHospital. 10. Will most likely be required to rotate to other MR sites withinBeverlyHospitalto maintain competency with those sites and to allow the staff at the other sites to learn 3T. 11. Will be required to cover vacations at theBeverlyatDanverssite. Will most likely be required to cover sick calls and vacations at the other MR sites withinBeverlyHospital. 12. Is flexible about being able to help with sick calls by staying late or coming in early. 13. Understands that 3T is a new technology and that there will be a learning curve not only for the technologists, but for the entire staff. 14. Takes it upon him or herself to learn about 3T technology and also attend in-services and application training when provided. 15. Uses proper filming technique and formats for each examination. 16. Ensures accuracy of all patient data on films, film jackets, CDs, and CD jackets; and discharges patients with proper films and CD's. 17. Documents any deviation from scan protocol in appropriate systems, including documentation of all incidents and restoration of prior studies. 18. Follows-up on all incidental findings. 19. Maintains courteous efficient interaction withBeverlyHospitaldepartments, Radiologists, referring offices and ambulance personnel. 20. Successfully pass the MR Registry within fifteen months of hire. 21. Correctly uses the PACS system to the specifications of Radiologist and Site Leader. 22. Cleans and stocks scan room with proper supplies before and after shift. 23. Keeps site leader aware of any issues involving patients, equipment or staff as appropriate? Completes incident reports as appropriate. 24. Attends to all patients' needs and the needs of Radiologist on duty regarding wet reads and patient information, charts and patient complaints. 25. Assists the Support Staff when not attending to technologist responsibilities, or when assistance is essential in patient care and/or customer service. 26. Performs projects/tasks as required by the Site Leader. Works with Site Leader and Radiology Manager in implementing policies and/or work instructions regarding patient care and scanning. 27. Attends meetings and participates in departmental briefings and updates. 28. Reads and responds to all e-mails appropriately. 29. Limits internet use to that which is required to perform the job. 30. Keeps personal phone calls to a minimum.
Experience/Education
1. Must have minimum of Associates Degree in Radiology. 2. Experience in MRI setting preferred. 3. Experience with PACS systems. 4. Must have excellent communication skills. 5. Must maintain a professional manner and appearance. 6. Must be able to work independently as well as in a team. 7. Must be self-motivated and have ability to work in a healthcare setting 8. Must have basic computer skills.
Licensure and Certification:
1. Must have Associates Degree in Radiological Technology. 2. Must hold current licensure/certification with the State ofMA, ARRT and hold advanced level certification in MRI. 3. BLS Certification Required
