Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Department: Laboratory Schedule: full-time Shift: evening shift Hours: varies Salary: Grade NE110 ($21.62 - $31.97) / Grade NE087 ($17.20 - $25.53) Job Details: * Medical Technologist -Registered MT or registry eligible with one year experience preferred. Experience in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, microbiology, phlebotomy and computer systems desired. This is a generalist rotator position involving multiple departments and shifts, including weekend and holiday rotations. Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting. Excellent customer service skills are essential as we instill confidence in the public with every encounter. Phlebotomy includes drawing blood from newborns, infants, children, and adults.
Minimum Education
§ Bachelors Degree in an appropriate science field.
Minimum Work Experience
§ Zero to six months of specifically related experience; knowledge in the areas of quality improvement, quality control, equipment maintenance and laboratory safety is desired.
Required Licenses/Certifications
§ Medical Technologist Certification or eligibility. Technical certification by an appropriate laboratory agency within one year of hire into the position.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
§ Complies with regulatory requirements, OSHA/VOSHA Standard Precautions; practices personal and hospital safety and complies with confidentiality policy. § Communicates patient information to physicians, office staff, and hospital employees. Acts as clinical laboratory information resource to all customers groups. Ability to accurately transcribe and verbalize patient data. § Requires between 1 and 10 Competency Checklist points. § Basic Microsoft Windows desktop application and navigation skills.
Medical Laboratory Technician - Performs, calculates and reports selected routine laboratory tests and helps maintain equipment. Recognizes abnormal results and instrument or quality control problems. Notifies supervisor and follows preset strategies to recheck these findings.
