Medical Technologist/Medical Lab Technologist Department: Lab Schedule: Full Time Shift: 2nd Hours: Monday - Friday and Weekends as Needed Job Details: * Associate's Degree * Position Summary: Performs Laboratory duties including but not limited to the following: accuracy of laboratory billing, appropriate reporting of laboratory results, communication and marketing of lab to outside resources. Knowledge of hospital and laboratory information systems. Knowledge of inventory, ordering, purchasing and receiving of laboratory and hospital supplies. Demonstrates leadership to ensure staffing is appropriate during Manager's absence. Performance of venipuncture phlebotomy and arterial blood gas collection on laboratory patients. Maintaining workflow in the lab by prioritizing, processing, and resulting of physician orders. Responsible for meeting Hospital and Laboratory safety standards. Maintains health information and confidentiality guidelines established by Granville Health System. Promoting team work with the department, the physicians and staff, hospital personnel, patients and family. Performs testing in all areas of the laboratory. Ensures quality, accuracy and timeliness of test results. Responsibilities may include quality control, maintenance and proficiency testing for instrumentation. May assist section supervisors in the development of new test methods, procedures writing, and staff education. Will participate and contribute to the laboratory performance improvement program in order to improve skills, lab productivity, communication and teamwork with in the hospital.
Qualifications: Associates degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or 5 years of Laboratory experience with Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician certification from an accredited agency. Must also meet standards for high complexity testing established in the Federal Register CLIA '88 published February 1992. Current driver's license. Computer skills, filing, leadership skills, laboratory billing experience, quality control, performance improvement. Compliance and CPT code knowledge preferred.
