Medical Technologist Department: Laboratory Schedule: Per diem Shift: All Shifts Hours: FTE: Salary: Job Details: * Certification required * Experience Necessary * POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain current knowledge in areas of diversified collecting, testing, record keeping, and related duties necessary for the analysis of blood and body fluid samples in accordance with established policies and procedures. Performs only those analyses authorized upon completion of training. More than 6 years in Staff Tech position at LGH and must meet minimum current qualifications for high complexity testing personnel required.

A.Accurately identifies patients and patient samples per policy.
B. Ensures specimen appropriateness and maintains specimen integrity throughout testing and storage.
C. Efficiently and accurately reports results including timely communication of stat and critical results, with appropriate documentation in the LIS Call Queue.
D.Assists with inventory management by documenting received and open dates on supplies as required by policy, and promptly notifying supervisor of low inventory.
E. Maintains an organized work environment to enable another to take over job duties.
F. Demonstrates proficient use of the Laboratory Information System.
G.Prepares and maintains analytical equipment in proper operating condition in accordance with specific policy and procedure, and follows Lab guidelines when test systems are not within acceptable limits.
H.Participates in teaching students and training of new staff members.
