Per Diem Medical Technologist Salary Range: $24,700
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs laboratory tests for the treatment and diagnoses of diseases specific to an assigned laboratory section. Prepares specimens and performs analytical examinations of body fluids, tissues and secretions such as feces, urine, sputum, spinal fluid and blood. Reviews or reads specimens, computer terminals, charts, vials, etc., and maintains necessary documentation. Acts as part of a multidisciplinary team in maintaining data and instrument quality control, and maintaining productivity standards.
EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor's degree in a related science field.
EXPERIENCE: Required: One year clinical lab experience or year-long Medical Technologist internship.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Preferred: One of the following: Registered as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or Registered as a Clinical Laboratory Specialist by the National Certifying Agency (NCA). ____________________________________________________________________
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Performs cell manipulation/evaluation procedures following standard policies and procedures, such as stem cell and/or cellular product cyropreservation, cell enrichment and/or purging, cell evaluation and sorting, cell culture, cell product thaw/wash and infusion. Performs error free calculations including, but not limited to, infusion cell doses, viabilities, dilutions and cell concentrations. Responsible for aseptic handling of products at all times to ensure the integrity, viability and sterility of cellular products until final infusion to the patient. Performs procedures and maintains accurate documentation in compliance with the FDA's practices and regulations as well as standards set by other accreditation agencies. Must follow and adapt to procedures/policies implemented by study sponsors and adhere to all defined processing and documentation requirements. Demonstrates and maintains working and theoretical knowledge of current stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies. Maintains and applies knowledge regarding donor evaluation, screening and testing, labeling and product acceptability and release criteria. Performs quality control testing, routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Coordinates and manages supply inventory.
EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific field.
EXPERIENCE: Required: None. Preferred: One year of experience in clinical cell processing.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Preferred: Certified Medical Technologist (MT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). ____________________________________________________________________
