Confidential Posting Verbiage: A national healthcare company is currently seeking qualified candidates for Medical Records Assistant position in Madison, WI
This position is responsible for processing all medical records requests in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service.
Hours for this position are Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Job Duties: Receive incoming requests including opening mail, assisting walk-ins and telephone inquiries, and retrieving facsimile inquiries. Date stamps all requests and highlights pertinent data to facilitate processing. Validate requests and authorizations for release of medical information according to established procedures. Complete release of information requests including retrieving patient’s medical chart and returning chart, copying/scanning medical record accurately and correctly, according to requests, established procedures, and established standards of quality and productivity; and mails copies or electronically delivers medical record. Perform quality checks on all work to assure accuracy of the release, confidentiality, and proper invoicing. Provide excellent customer service by being attentive and respectful; insures understanding of customer request and follows-through as promised; and being proactive in identifying client concerns, or problems. Maintain confidentiality, security and standards of ethics with all company and medical records information including during transport, storage and disposal.
Requirements: Administrative experience in a medical office, medical records department or healthcare environment Must have strong computer software experience, general working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required Excellent organizational skills a must
Education Requirements: High School Diploma (GED) required A minimum of an Associates’ Degree in medical records billing/coding desired
