Medical Records Assistant
Title: Medical Records Assistant Location: North Shore University Hospital -- Manhasset Other Locations: Reviews and prepares medical records for completion. Assists physicians and transcript office in correcting deficiencies, as needed.
1. Identifies medical record deficiencies as indicated by computer generated deficiency sheet. 2. Locates and retrieves deficient charts for appropriate physician to complete. 3. Reviews incomplete charts routinely to determine which record deficiencies have been corrected. Updates the computer system and deficiency sheets to reflect the status of chart. 4. Reviews ticklers routinely for operative reports and discharge summaries that have not yet been placed in medical record. 5. Refers questions about the status of dictated reports to the transcript office. 6. Performs related duties as required.
* High School Diploma or equivalent, required. * Minimum of one (1) year general clerical experience, required. Previous Medical Record experience, preferred. * Ability to communicate effectively.
