The Medical Biller/Coder is responsible for posting payments, working aging accounts and EOB’s as well as general office duties including typing, filing and mail. This is a high profile position requiring outstanding customer service, professionalism, dependability, and confidentiality. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Experience with Centricity and understanding of Neurosurgery operative notes and coding is preferred
- Medical Billing
- Medical Coding
- EOB’s
- Payments Posting
- General Clerical Duties; Typing, Filing, Receive incoming calls and transferring accordingly
- Track, order and receive mail
- Proficient in English & Spanish is required
- Must pass coding test and background screening

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Medical Coding, Medical Billing, Medical Terminology experience required
· Previous experience in customer service related role is preferred
· Handles and safeguards confidential information and sensitive material
· Communicate clearly and concisely, utilizing proper grammar and telephone etiquette
· Microsoft® Word, Excel, and Internet navigation and research
· Ability to compute basic math calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages is preferred
COMMUNICATION/TEAMWORK SKILLS
· Employee has extensive external contact with patients as well as within the office environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Employee works in an office environment. Employee sits at a desk during regularly scheduled work hours; answers and makes telephone calls using a standard telephone; types on a standard keyboard; reads and comprehends information from a computer terminal and/or written resources.
