Fantastic and established central coast health care organization is looking for an experienced Medical Assistant to work in a fast paced clinic environment. Required M.A. externship preformed, with a completion certificate from a certified school. Proficiency in Medical Terminology, Microsoft Word, and Excel, are a must. Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is a definite advantage, but not a requirement. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains clean and safe patient areas, and follows safety procedures. Assists in maintaining patients charts in a neat, accurate and organized manner. Acts as an interpreter when necessary between patient and provider. Cleans instruments and prepares for sterilization by placing instruments in appropriate solution(s). Administers medications via oral, parental routes, and topical routes. Performs preliminary assessment and determines need for immunizations, and other health maintenance recommendations. Performs in-house laboratory tests (urinalysis, pregnancy test, strep, etc.) Conducts referral and tracking for routine visits and referral, and notes tracking in medical record and referral log. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults or geriatrics.) Maintains and adheres to confidentiality, and privileged communications (patient, employee and corporation) Assist with Medical Records (filing, combines records, copies, lab slips, and pulls charts for appointments). EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required. Graduation from an accredited school with a certificate in medical assisting is definitely a requirement.
